All for a good cause
What do we mean by ‘a good cause’? Well, if you say that something is for a good cause, you mean that it is worth doing or giving to because it will help other people, for example by raising money for charity.
There is a long history around the world of businesses donating money, goods or time to charitable causes. Amazon, Microsoft, and Google are just a few companies that donate millions of dollars to nonprofit organizations. But should size by a consideration? Shouldn’t everyone be doing what they can to help within their communities and the greater area.
GreenWeb Ltd is lucky enough to be a successful company and we want to help other people and organisations to succeed as well. Though we will never reach the dizzying heights of the likes of Google or other huge international businesses it doesn’t mean that we can’t make a continued ongoing difference in our community.
Over the years GreenWeb has provided time and support to animal welfare charities, sports groups and child related groups. We are proud of the websites we have produced and continue to maintain for these groups.
One of my particular favorites is Kerikeri Mainly Music. Mainly Music is a fun music group for parents and care givers to enjoy together with their pre-school children. I first learnt about Mainly Music when I took my son there 10 years ago when I first came to Kerikeri. The music and movement activities help young children become more aware of their bodies and learn fine motor skills and coordination as well as helping your child’s social interaction and language development. I personally found the group great fun, it helped me to meet other mothers and little boy simply adored it!
I kept coming back to Mainly Music over the years with my other children as they came along and was always impressed by the dedication of the volunteers that ran the group. For me it was a natural step to look for a way to help them raise awareness and in doing so raise funds for the group. We helped them publish a recipe book and we launched a website www.kerikerimainlymusic.org.nz for them back in 2014 and continue to maintain it for them free of charge to this day.
More recently we approached another group who’s worked impressed us, Bay of Islands Animal Rescue. Founded in September 2017 Bay of Islands Animal Rescue is run by a small group of truly amazing volunteers whose combined skills, contacts, resources, ideas and capabilities has opened up exciting doors and huge opportunities for rescue animals. We wanted to help them raise their public profile and give them a platform from which to advertise the animals they are caring for who are in need of new homes.
We worked with Bay of Islands Animal Rescue to identify the message and the resources they wanted to provide to the public and then designed a website for them to fulfill those needs. www.bayofislandsanimalrescue.org.nz was launched on the 6th February 2018. Since going live the site has in its first month received over a thousand visits, has helped to rehome more than a dozen animals and has helped to raise over $10,000 in donations. We are delighted to have been able to part of this project and look forward to working with the amazing guys at Bay of Islands Animal Rescue in the future.
We believe that being a philanthropic business is very important. From GreenWeb’s viewpoint it not only helps us to make a positive long-term contribution to our local communities but it also makes good business sense too.
