In a nutshell company social responsibility is a businesses’ initiatives to assess and take responsibility for the company’s effects on things like the environment and social wellbeing.
We all know that large companies are immensely powerful entities that can have huge impacts locally and even globally. But should size be a consideration? Shouldn’t every company be doing what they can to help within their communities? Where ever possible we believe they should.
Although in terms of staff we are a small company GreenWeb Ltd is still a thriving and successful business and we want to help other people and organisations to succeed too. By respecting and supporting our community, we hope to make a long-term contribution to its future, the future of the people who live there and the future of our company’s role within that area.
With that in mind we have again this year sponsored a project in which we have worked closely with local primary school, Opua School, to produce a website (at no cost to them) which will help them to raise their profile, hopefully attract outside investment, teach the pupils a wider range of IT skills and above all give the kids a sense of ownership of their place in our online society.
In addition to launching the new site over the next ten weeks of term 4 will we be going into the school for an hour each week to work with staff and pupils. We will be showing them how to edit and maintain the website themselves so it can become a platform for them to showcase all the things about Opua School they love so much.
At GreenWeb Ltd being a responsible business is has always been very important to us, indeed it underpins our primary focus when making numerous decision because it not only helps us to make a positive long-term contribution to the Bay of Islands area, and the people we share this amazing place with, but it also makes good business sense.
If you have a project you’d like to discuss with us please feel free to contact us.
