The New Zealand Herald recently wrote, “There hasn’t been a more challenging time for business than now, with the future of thousands of small, medium and large businesses is unknown.”
The coronavirus pandemic is first and foremost a human tragedy, affecting literally millions of people. Even for those who are lucky enough to not become unwell, the outbreak still presents us with a range of problems not least how we protect our livelihoods. Business owners need to come up with solutions to help them get through these difficult times.
SHIFT TO ONLINE
Given the situation at hand, businesses have to shift to virtual systems instead. This would involve digital marketing, online meetings, online retail and such. Potentially, this would be a factor in businesses’ survival, especially in this pivotal time where physical presence poses risks to our health.
ADAPT TO SURVIVE
To be a resilient business, you must be able to adapt quickly and be creative. For companies who typically handle their operations face-to-face, adapting to the digital era might mean having to establish online platforms for your brand, or exploring social media to sustain engagement within your target market.
Although it is a difficult time for businesses that have never used online platforms before, it’s the closest shot we’ve got at the moment to staying running, and functional.
CARE FOR EACH OTHER
In a time like this, it would be a great idea to check up on your clients and ensure they’re in good shape. Since we’re all battling this crisis together, another thing you could do is look out for them and see what you can do to give a little help.
A small gesture can ensure resiliency, as both parties are sustained for the time being. Think beyond the lockdown, when you offer support, you foster life-long connections and loyalty in return.
Here at GreenWeb we have been providing updates to our client’s sites for free to take some of the stress out of having to post last minute notices about the changes in operating hours and procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic.
With everything that’s happening, a lot of businesses are already beginning to struggle and some simply aren’t going to make it. To survive, owners really must be proactive to see how they can keep operating even in a time like this.
